In reply to Mark E. Jeftovic. Appeal to Authority is always an issue in discussions of science. Problem is, I don’t have the time to read everything, so my personal heuristic is to go to sources who are more likely to be searching for the truth in the evidence rather than mapping out their political motivations, then searching for data to support their positions. Is that Poisoning the Well? I can see how you could argue that. Is your side poisoning the well when they argue that any data provided by the producers is motivated by profit seeking? Seems so to me. So the simple solution is to throw out both sources and return to the findings of primary research that has been filtered through the established peer review process. Again, a long long way from perfect, but the best we have when emotions run hot.
