Covid and the years since have made it clear that a sizeable portion of peoples minds are controlled by the current thing. Jay Dyer discusses this often as the Fabian Socialists combining the worst aspects of "Capitalism"with the worst aspects of "Communism". Seems to be exactly what Mussolini had intended.

Oh Markie, I feel you. To me this is of a piece with your post from last June, mentioning post election burnout. Like many I have found the whole sequence appaling.
Though I'm not Canadian, I've lived there for a few years, and I ended up leaving a mere 12 days before Trudeau was elected. It was not premeditated mind you, it's just life as it happened. I had no idea what was to follow. The next decade has provided its fair share of grimaces.

I too have been hard at work taking stock of the lessons of the last few years, there are many a narrative/worldview from the late 2010s that have grown stale. Painful though it can be, they have to be discarded with prejudice. Thanks for this blog.

Who did China steal the flying cars from? The high speed trains, the cleaner nuclear, global leading 5PLUS G cellular. Who did they steal the robot tech from?

Yer just another like Mark, fully incorporated into clown world make believing they are in opposition to it.

Great article. The only reason China has grown and done well is that their system is based on sending their people out and stealing from other countries. Take that away, and have them rely on their own abilities and they would be ahead of where they were in 1990, but just a little.

Mark, first rate piece. Excellent self-criticism, correction, and re-orienteering of perspective to a constructive, realistic outlook and re-direction. Don't regret or lament. Instead, celebrate your liberation from false hopes and desires. The point, "the wealthy never suffer" no matter what regime is operating, is completely correct – as is the collective stupidity of the general public due to the faults embedded in human nature during man's Genesis, which are congenital, fixed, and non-negotiable. So in conclusion, if wealthy, it's wise to just relax, read and live "The Desiderata" as follow the examples of the stoic Marcus Aurelius and his mentor predecessor, Antoninus Pius and just get through your life's path as comfortably and enjoyably as your means allow and forget about the relative comparable costs to the fantasy that your mind conjured and reasoned prior with its false Pollyannish hopes.
