There's just one thing I found worth mentioning, and this is that I noticed in two places, once in this article ("in it's wake"), that you used "it's" as a possessive pronoun. "It's" is the contraction of "it is", and "its" without an apostrophe is the possessive pronoun. This is a mistake that has become so common that it threatens to become normal (rather like its inversion, the _omission_ of the apostrophe, in nonpronomial possessives, e.g. "dont"), which is probably why I feel compelled to mention it.

1. Socialism is for the type of things that should not be profit driven. “Did you know that before 1973 it was illegal in the US to profit off of health care. The Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 passed by Nixon changed everything.” And I hate toll roads. 🙂

Words mean what they mean, not what you want them to mean and not what you believe them to mean – they mean what they mean. So let’s start with socialism and capitalism. The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, – so·cial·ism (sōshə-lĭz′əm) noun
1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
2. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which the means of production are collectively owned but a completely classless society has not yet been achieved.

The definition that applies to our current political situation is number 1.
We are surrounded by socialism every day. Public Libraries, public hospitals, police departments, public fire departments, public streets, public highways, and public bridges and the United States Postal Service are all owned and operated by a level of government. Further, since New Hampshire, the ninth state required, ratified the US Constitution in 1788, this country has been a socialist country not matter what the right wing says. And while we are at it, the US was not founded as a Christian nation.

So socialism is the what we do as a society together through our various levels of government, while capitalism is done in the private sector. So to make the case that it is socialism versus capitalism is incorrect. The key is what are the types of things that are best done by the private sector, and what are best done socially through our governments. For a country to run efficiently and actually serve the people both socialism and capitalism are required.

Neither capitalism nor socialism are good or bad, they are what they are. What is good or bad is the application. Wall Street has some greedy bastards that are using capitalism in a not so good for us way. Government is supposed to use regulation (another one of those not good or bad words tat has been trashed by the right into something bad) to level the playing field and keep the scammers in check to protect the public and their workers. But NO, not here in the US. We have the completely evil Republican party and the corporate Democrats who are paid by and work for the wealthy. This is not just me ranting. It, like climate change is completely observable. It is what they do, not what hey say.

And on climate change, I grew up in #2 field corn and soybean farming country, where most of those two crops went to feeding livestock. Instead of the fear tactic of doing away with meat, the “socialists” are calling for, as part of the Green New Deal, regenerative farming, and I know for a fact that is needed. The soil in those farming areas are trashed, limited in microbes, require heavy chemicals, pesticides and herbicides that runoff into the waterways (remember the dead zone off the mouth of the Mississippi river) just to get a crop. Regenerative farming would take those fields, clean them up, fully restore the soil, and turn them into pasture land, which would not only feed the livestock on the pastures (cattle, hogs, chickens), but the microbes in the soil would also capture and break down huge amounts of CO2 into oxygen for the atmosphere and carbon for the plants. The nutrition value of the meats and eggs would increase and the poisons now in our commercial meats and eggs would cease to exist as long as the pastures are not treated with chemicals and sprays. And OBTW, wouldn’t you call that organic? Farm the soil instead of the crop?

Bernie, Warren, AOC, and the rest of the “Squad” are on the right track, but I am not holding my breath thinking the stupid American voter will wake up and smell the plutocracy.
